Comply with regulations governing reportable incidents (e.g., needle stick,  falls,  errors). 

 

Comply with standards governing reliability and accuracy in point of care lab testing.

 

Comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Comply with laws related to scope of employment (e.g., immunizations, background checks, drug screens, certifications). Obtain patient permission before performing procedures.

 

Follow the proper procedures for documenting in the patient's electronic health record (EHR). Demonstrate compliance with laws related to Protected Health Information (PHI) (e.g., HIPAA). Adhere to the Patient's Bill of Rights (AHA). Comply with federal and state health care legislation and regulations (e.g., Joint Commission, State Board of Nursing). Respond to nonverbal communications.

Magdalena Rodriguez, LVN

Program Director

Magdalena Rodriguez serves as the Patient Care Technician Program Director for RGV Vocational Services. Her role is to implement and evaluate daily lesson plans for students.Rodriguez also plans instruction to achieve specific objectives based upon student need and established curriculum, monitors attendance and performance of students in the program. An essential part of her job is also to review student success rates and implement a plan to reduce student withdrawals, maintaining at least a 90% student success rate for all classes taught in the program. 

Mrs. Rodriguez earned her LVN license in 2009 via St. Michael's School of Nursing and Technology in Weslaco, Texas. She has worked as a charge nurse in various nursing homes, home health care, medical insurance services, allergy testing nurse and most recently as an Instructor and Program Director. Mrs. Rodriguez proudly serves our country as a Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer 2nd Class in the United States Navy Reserves, since 2014. As a Corpsman, she performs duties as an assistant in the prevention and treatment of disease and injury and works side by side with health care professionals in providing medical care to Navy service members and their families.
