Professionalism and reliability are required in this profitable job. Medical Insurance and Coding Specialists prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and send statements to patients. Medical Insurance and Coding Specialists must be knowledgeable and possess skills in the areas of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic and procedural coding, insurance claims processing, and medical billing procedures.

The approximate time required to complete this program is 18 weeks. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Albert Gonzalez, RMA
Career Programs Director
Albert Gonzalez is a Registered Medical Assistant. With 15 years of experience under his belt, Gonzalez has been an MA Instructor, MA Program Director, and currently serves as the Medical Billing & Coding Program Director for RGV Vocational Services. Gonzalez has accomplished the creation of a new Medical Assistant Program curriculum for a college becoming one of the founders of the blended certificate program. The blended program was created for students to attend didactic courses 50% in-ground and 50% online. As part of the process in creating this and all other programs, directors required a high skill set in computer literacy and the ability to create modern teaching processes. Gonzalez not only oversaw writing the curriculum, but also passionately incorporated himself as an instructor, managed the student administrative paperwork, and helped place students in their corresponding clinical sites. Additionally, he assisted by finding and maintaining professional relationships with collaborating clinical site providers and/or hospitals. Gonzalez has been an integral part in obtaining several awards and recognitions at the local, state and national level.
